Leon Townsend-Nakai

Leon Townsend-Nakai is an Instructor of English as a Foreign Language at Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan, where he teaches English language and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) courses. He holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and is currently researching intercultural communication, Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), learner autonomy, and the use of technology in language education. His recent work explores Japanese university students’ perspectives on virtual international exchange and willingness to communicate in English. Leon has presented at international conferences in Japan and abroad on topics including dialogical feedback, self-evaluation in language education, and COIL. Alongside his research, he is passionate about language learning through culture and media, educational technology, and designing engaging, student-centred learning experiences.
